Some favorite first finger foods - loved and recommended by Nest mamas and teachers!

Toast - cut into strips spread (about the width of your pinky) with a thin layer of:

  • Hummus

  • Butter

  • Ghee

  • Coconut oil

  • Jam/jelly

  • Peanut butter/almond butter/etc.

  • Mashed berries

  • Avocado


Breakfast:

  • Quick oats with mashed fruit

  • Pancakes cut in strips

  • Banana/Egg pancakes - 2 eggs, 1 banana - add applesauce, flax seed, etc. (lots of recipes online!)

  • Greek Yogurt with mashed fruit or almond/peanut butter, can also add chia, flax, wheat germ, etc.

  • Smoothies

  • Sliced banana rolled in mashed cheerios

  • Omelette cut in strips

  • Scrambled eggs


Lunch:

  • Sliced avocado rolled in mashed crackers

  • Hard boiled eggs in strips or mashed with avocado and served in a bowl/on toast

  • Grated apple or pear


Dinner:

  • Steamed or roasted until tender veggies: broccoli, cauliflower, thin sliced squash, portobello mushroom strips, carrot in strips

  • Meats in crockpot cooked until tender

  • Lentils (in a bowl or molded into patties)

  • Veggies cut into “fries” and roasted - sweet potatoes & zucchini

  • Grated veggies

  • Sweet potato, squash, potatoes, etc. mashed with a fork

  • Noodles

  • Corn on the cob

  • Thin veggies steamed: green beans, asparagus

  • Rice or orzo - messy!


Snacks:

  • Smoothie frozen in popsicle molds

  • Bambas

  • Peaches and mango cut in strips

  • Banana and avocado cut in strips with peel on
